Jarman Films Open Fest at USC

“Sexuality and Politics,” a weekend festival of films screening in Room 108 of USC’s George Lucas Instructional Building, commences tonight at 7 with an evening of Derek Jarman films, “Imaging October” (1984), “The Tempest” (1979) and “The Garden” (1990).

Andy Warhol’s “My Hustler” (1965) and Jaime Humberto Hermosillo’s “La Tarea” (“Homework”) (1990) screen Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

“Historicizing Homosexuality,” a 7:30 p.m. Saturday program, includes “Boys Beware,” a 1952 instructional film produced by Inglewood’s police department and school district; Casi Pacilio and L.M. Keyes”’ “Out of Our Time” (1988), which deals with a feminist writer unearthing her grandmother’s correspondence; and Isaac Julien’s recent release “Young Soul Rebels,” which deals with the friendship between a two black Londoners, one gay, the other straight.

“Recent Video Work,” commencing at 1 p.m. Sunday, is composed of Maria Beatty’s “The Sluts and Goddesses of Transformation Salon” and features self-proclaimed pop sexologist Annie Sprinkle; “Variety Is the Spice of Life,” a selection of videos compiled by the Video Data Bank of Chicago screening at 2 p.m.; and Richard Fung’s “Orientations” (1984), screening at 3:30 p.m.
