N.Y. Man Kills Himself After Son’s Suicide
A man fatally shot himself three weeks after his teen-age son committed suicide outside a school, authorities said.
Eugene Arnold, 37, called the Saratoga County sheriff’s office Thursday, saying he was despondent about his son’s death and threatening suicide, Deputy Charles Fuller said.
A deputy tried to talk Arnold into giving up his 12-gauge shotgun, but Arnold shot himself once in the stomach.
Theodore Arnold, 16, shot himself once in the head with a .22-caliber rifle near a flagpole outside Saratoga Junior High School on March 20. Friends of the teen-ager said he had been unhappy with his family life.
