Irvine Police Lt. Pat Rodgers said Laguna Canyon Road, also known as Highway 133, was closed in both directions between the San Diego Freeway and El Toro Road, and was expected to remain shut down all night.

The collision occurred between a Nissan sports car and a Geo Metro. The Metro’s engine was torn from the car and was hurled onto a hillside 75 feet away.
