A 3-year-old boy died Saturday in a hit-and-run collision after the car in which he was riding was hit in an Arleta intersection, authorities said.

The child, whose name was not released, was riding with his mother and grandmother about 5:15 p.m. when their car was hit by another vehicle at Van Nuys Boulevard and Woodman Avenue, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Bob Collis said.

Collis said the child, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the car, which rolled over on him. The boy’s mother and grandmother were treated for minor injuries at Pacifica Hospital of the Valley, Collis said.
