VAN NUYS, STUDIO CITY : City Inaugurates DASH Bus Service
Seven natural gas-powered shuttle buses began operating Monday in Van Nuys and Studio City.
The shuttles, operating under the name DASH, were paid for by funds from Proposition A, the 1980 ballot measure that provided a half-cent sales tax increase to provide public transportation.
The Los Angeles Department of Transportation operates DASH buses in Pacific Palisades, Watts, Westwood Village, Fairfax and other sections of the city.
The buses run every 20 minutes weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The fare is 25 cents each way. There is no DASH service Sundays or major holidays.
The Van Nuys-Studio City buses stop near CBS Studio Center near Ventura and Laurel Canyon boulevards, Valley College, Sherman Oaks Fashion Square and the Van Nuys Government Center at Sylvan Street and Van Nuys Boulevard, among other locations.
City officials hope to have 117 DASH buses operating throughout the city by the end of the year.
