Texas Coach Tom Penders denied a report that he would step down if one of his assistants is reprimanded over charges of withholding team meal money.

The Austin American-Statesman, reporting an investigation of charges that assistant coach Jamie Ciampaglio withheld the money, said that three unidentified players had been told by Penders that he would leave Texas if Ciampaglio is forced out. The investigation is being conducted by the university and the Travis County district attorney’s office.
