WARNING CALL: Supervisor Harriett M. Wieder, above, suggests that the anger which led to Wednesday’s riot should be a warning to Orange County. . . . “We’ve got to start looking in our own back yard,” Wieder says. “We have to recognize that we are now a diverse community; we’ve got to let all people here know that we care about them.” Wieder, saddened by events in L.A., says they vividly bring to mind the 1965 Watts riots. She was on L.A. Mayor Sam Yorty’s staff then. “I’m afraid we haven’t made much progress in 27 years.”
