Countywide : Takasugi Endorsed for Assembly Seat

Share

Oxnard Mayor Nao Takasugi, a candidate for the 37th Assembly District seat, has won the endorsement of Dist. Atty. Michael D. Bradbury, Oxnard Police Chief Robert Owens and the Ventura County Deputy Sheriffs Assn.

Bradbury praised Takasugi as a consensus-builder who will be able to get law enforcement measures passed in Sacramento. Owens--who said the endorsement is his first in 25 years as a police chief--said the Legislature has shortchanged cities in recent years and the mayor will work to reverse that trend.

Sgt. Kenton Rainey, secretary of the 600-member deputies association, said the group’s board of directors endorsed Takasugi because he has long supported law enforcement and is “tough on crime.”
