More About ‘Life’

Share

In his April 18 article (“There’s More to ‘Life’ Than Ratings”) Howard Rosenberg summed up many of the feelings associated with the television show “Life Goes On.” I am sure that there are many families that have experienced the trials and emotional trauma of a child with Down’s syndrome, or any other handicap.

One of the major hurdles that one must overcome with a “special” child is the lack of public awareness. With the program, not only was the public informed that life did not end with Down’s syndrome but it gave the parents an emotional lift.

Other than cartoons, “Life Goes On” is one of the only programs that my “special” daughter watches. As a matter of fact, starting early on Sunday morning, my daughter continues to ask when Corky will be on.

I can understand that the television executives are trying to program shows that capture more of the viewing audience, but I am sure that they have underestimated the impact if they cancel this show.
