Exposing the Roth Connection

The front-page article “Roth Inquiry Prompts Call to Ban Gifts” (April 25) will no doubt cause political trough-feeders to reconsider their insatiable appetite for freebies, gifts and perks.
I am in total agreement with activist Shirley Grindle that political gifts (of any kind) should be banned altogether. If our five county supervisors are not content with their fat campaign contributions, secret passageways to office and the warm, comforting shelter of developers’ hip pockets, then they should seek real jobs out here with the recession-plagued taxpayers.
Maybe that would be too cruel a punishment for the Famous Five Freeloaders, as they suffer from the most common political disease: Incumbentitus.
