Council Gives 6 Awards for Beautification

The Crossroads Condominium, a new multifamily residence in Inglewood, was one of six winners of the “Perpetual Awards” in the Los Angeles Business Council’s 22nd annual Beautification Awards competition.

The 176-unit, 2 1/2-story redevelopment project, a contemporary design in a park-like setting, was awarded the Goldrich/Kest Award for best New Multifamily Residence/Condo. The owner is Harlan Lee Associates; architect is Johannes Van Tilburg & Partners and the contractor is the Anden Group.

The Jeffrey Tamkin Award was presented to the Southern California Gas Co. Tower in Los Angeles for outstanding New Commercial Development. It is owned by Maguire Partners; the architects are Keating, Mann, Jernigan, Rottet and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill; the contractor is Turner Construction.

The Ray Watt Award, given for outstanding Single-Family Residence was awarded to the Guerra Residence in Santa Monica; owners are Rod and Carolyn Guerra; the architect is Melinda Gray and the contractor Glen Ernst.

The Kaufman & Broad Award, presented for outstanding New Public or Civic Project, was awarded to Beverly Hills Main Post Office in Beverly Hills; U.S. Postal Service, owner; Dworsky Associates Inc., architect, and Montgomery Ross Fisher, contractor.

The Raleigh Enterprises Award, presented for outstanding Commercial Landscaping, was received by the Beverly Hilton Hotel; The Griffin Group, owner; LRM Ltd., landscape architect; California Landscape, architect.

The Southern California Gas Co. Award, presented for Energy Efficiency, was presented to the South Coast Air Quality Management District headquarters.

The following served as judges for the awards program:
