Colts’ Curry Shot and Killed During Argument
Shane Curry, the Indianapolis Colts’ second draft pick last season, was shot and killed Sunday during an argument over a blocked vehicle, police said.
The Colts made Curry, 24, the 40th pick overall pick in the 1991 draft. He spent his first NFL season as a reserve defensive end, recording eight tackles--three solos--and one sack in nine games.
Curry, who played for Miami’s national championship team in 1989, was shot in the head at about 1 a.m. in the parking lot of the Armada Inn on the city’s north side, said police Lt. Gregory Snider. Curry was pronounced dead about an hour later at University Hospital, nursing supervisor Vivian Mulvaney said.
Police initially charged a 15-year-old boy with felonious assault. The boy’s name wasn’t released. It wasn’t immediately clear whether Curry’s vehicle was blocking another or was blocked itself. Police did not say what type of gun was used.
