Bake Parkway Extension to Open Today

Share

The first major roadway linking the planned community of Foothill Ranch with Pacific Commercentre Business Park will open at 3:30 p.m. today.

The roadway is a three-mile, four-lane extension of Bake Parkway, stretching from Irvine Boulevard and Trabuco Road in Pacific Commercentre to Portola Parkway in Foothill Ranch.

Previously, the only access to the 2,743-acre community and 445-acre business park had been through Lake Forest Drive.

When the area is fully developed, it is expected to house more than 12,000 residents and employ more than 30,000 people.

The $10-million road improvement project is a joint venture of the Foothill Ranch Co. and Pacific Commercentre Partners, developers of Foothill Ranch and Pacific Commercentre, both of which are northeast of the Irvine Spectrum, near the San Diego Freeway and the Santa Ana Freeway.

The extension of Bake Parkway is part of the Foothill Circulation Phasing Plan, a $240-million construction program designed to improve access roads, major arterials and about 40 intersections in the communities and cities of Foothill Ranch, Lake Forest, Mission Viejo, Irvine and Rancho Santa Margarita.
