Share

A Ventura County Superior Court judge has ordered John Robert Kilroy, 23, to stand trial as an adult for his alleged role in the 1986 slaying of a man in an abandoned Simi Valley house.

The victim, Derek VanDusen, 33, was stabbed to death while he was sleeping, allegedly by Kilroy and David Arthur Dunlap, 24. Dunlap is awaiting trial on a murder charge in the same case.

Kilroy, who was 17 at the time of the slaying, was ordered Monday by Superior Court Judge Robert Bradley to be tried as an adult. Kilroy then entered a not guilty plea at a Municipal Court arraignment, and a preliminary hearing was scheduled June 5.
