In the most significant riot-related incident, a vandal tossed a Molotov cocktail through the window of Flo’s, a breakfast restaurant at 4593 Peck Road. The Thursday night incident occurred after the restaurant closed, and there were no reported injuries. Witnesses put out the small flames with a fire extinguisher.

Pasadena

Pasadena was relatively quiet until Thursday, when police began receiving reports of sporadic window smashing and minor looting along Colorado Boulevard and a few blocks north. Firefighters doused blazes around the city but said they were still determining whether they were connected to the rioting that began in Los Angeles on Wednesday. In a Thursday night fire believed to be connected to the rioting, several shops in a mini-mall along North Allen Avenue and East Villa Street were torched, causing an estimated $2.1 million in damage.

Pomona

More than 20 businesses, mostly along Holt Avenue and Indian Hill Boulevard, were damaged Thursday night. Some were looted, but most of the damage consisted of smashed windows. Police Chief Lloyd Wood estimated that 300 people were involved. Two fire engines and two police cars were damaged as crowds threw rocks and bottles. Gunshots were heard, but no one was reported hit.

Rowland Heights

Police reported broken windows and minor looting and shoplifting Thursday at the Vons and Alpha Beta supermarkets on Colima Road. The cash register was stolen from the Baskin-Robbins ice cream store on Colima Road, but there was no money in it. No National Guardsmen were deployed, although sheriff’s deputies who patrol the area were on extra alert.
