A petition signing and voter registration rally for unannounced independent presidential contender Ross Perot is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Sunland Park, 8651 Foothill Blvd. A total of 135,000 verified signatures are needed to place Perot's name on the California presidential ballot in November. Nick Hariton, Republican candidate in the 24th Congressional District, will sponsor a "Mother's Day Walk for Women's Rights." Walkers will gather at 2 p.m. Sunday at Encino Park, 16953 Ventura Blvd., then fan out into the community to talk with voters. Participants will reconvene at 4:45 p.m. at Hariton for Congress campaign headquarters, 16938 Ventura Blvd. for refreshments. The event is free and open to the public. A luncheon Tuesday involving several area chambers of commerce will feature a candidates forum in the 24th Congressional District. The event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at the Warner Center Hilton, 6360 Canoga Ave., Woodland Hills. Admission is $16 for chamber members and $21 for non-members. Registration deadline is today.
