Suspect Arrested Again in Wake of Charges
A San Diego man has been arrested a second time for the murder of a woman whose decomposed body was found in a Clairemont canyon in February. Vernon Cleo Walton, 41, was arrested Friday and charged with killing Margaret E. Rodriguez, 50.
Rodriguez was reported missing Dec. 27, 1991. Her body was found Feb. 4 near the 2900 block of Edell Place. She was last seen alive Nov. 27 leaving a Clairemont area bar with an unidentified man.
Walton was first arrested on April 7, but he was later released pending the filing of formal murder charges. He was arrested again on Friday at the corner of Cargill Avenue and Pulitzer Place. His bail was set at $1 million.
