Royal’s Landaker Signs With Nevada
Royal High shortstop Dave Landaker, considered one of the region’s best players and a top professional prospect, has signed a letter of intent with Nevada.
Landaker, who entered the week batting .536, is expected to be selected in the early rounds of the professional draft June 1-3.
He has not ruled out signing a professional contract, and whether he signs depends on how early he is selected, he said.
“Hopefully, things will go well with the draft,” he said. “The way I look at it, it’s like a grade I’ll get at the end of the year that will tell me how well I’ve done and how hard I’ve worked.”
Landaker, a senior, also considered Pepperdine, USC and Cal State Long Beach.
If Landaker attends Nevada, he could join Royal catcher Shane Slayton, who signed with the school earlier this season.
