Play It Again, Jam: Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis are ASCAP’s songwriters of the year and veteran lyricist Sammy Cahn is the association’s first Golden Word Award winner. The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers honored Jam & Lewis for “Love Will Never Do (Without You)” (recorded by Janet Jackson), “Rub You the Right Way” (Johnny Gill) and “Sensitivity” (Ralph Tresvant). The awards recognize the songs most performed from October, 1990, through September, 1991. They were to be presented Wednesday night at the Beverly Hilton.
