Countywide : Chamber Seeks Award Nominations
Ventura County residents are invited to submit nominations to the Camarillo Chamber of Commerce for an awards ceremony to honor the community’s top 10 leaders.
Nominations must be in by Sunday for the Meet the People awards dinner, which will be held at the Las Posas Country Club on June 25.
Nominees do not have to be Camarillo residents but must have helped better the community, said Evie Bystrom-Herrera, executive director of the chamber.
Awards will be given to the man, woman, senior, youth, educator and volunteer of the year. One business of the year will also be honored along with winners in three categories that have been added this year: public servant, service organization and entrepreneur with a business less than two years old.
The man and woman of the year will each receive a wooden wall clock, and other winners will be given plaques.
The chamber has given the awards since 1967. In an effort to keep costs down this year, Bystrom-Herrera said, the function will not be a ball. Instead, it will be a chamber business function and will include the installation of officers.
County Supervisor Maggie Erickson Kildee will be master of ceremonies.
