LAKE VIEW TERRACE: The Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday is expected to discuss whether the city should consider purchasing the defunct Lake View Medical Center. Phoenix House, a nonprofit group, is trying to purchase the property for a drug rehabilitation program.
PARENTS CONFERENCE: The Latin American Civic Assn. and a variety of community agencies are sponsoring a wide-ranging conference for parents on Friday at Mission College in Sylmar. The conference, to be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., is free.
