A Guide to the Best of Southern California : DESIGN : Picture This

If you’ve had trouble finding the perfect frame for a cherished photograph, the unusual Torch frame created by Intentional may be an ideal solution.

Designed by husband and wife collaborators Maria Bustillos and Albert Johns, both Los Angeles natives, the frame has S-shaped prongs suspended from the outer edges, making any photograph the focus of flames or a sunburst.

“The Torch frame is probably a straight design element that I lifted from a wrought-iron fence,” says Bustillos, who calls the frame a marriage of Renaissance ornamentation and ‘80s neo-primitivism.
