Share

Opponent--Chicago Cubs, three games.

Site--Dodger Stadium.

TV--SportsChannel, Tuesday.

Radio--KABC (790), KWKW (1330).

Records--Dodgers 13-20, Cubs 16-20.

Dodger update--Kal Daniels was available to pinch-hit Sunday, but Manager Tommy Lasorda didn’t need him. He plans to make far more use of Daniels tonight in his first appearance since going on the disabled list April 27 because of a sore right knee. Daniels, who was to be the Dodgers first baseman, is expected to start in left field, with Eric Davis moving over to center. That will allow Lasorda to rest slumping Brett Butler. Butler struck out three times Sunday. With the return of reliever Jay Howell, pitcher Kip Gross has been sent down to Albuquerque.

Cub update--Chicago has won seven of its last 11, but is 7-12 on the road and 9-10 against the National League West. Entering Sunday, the Cubs were next to last in batting in the National League. Shortstop Shawon Dunston (.315), their top hitter, is out until at least September following back surgery.

Pitching matchups--The Dodgers’ Kevin Gross (1-3) vs. Frank Castillo (1-3) tonight at 7:30; Orel Hershiser (2-3) vs. Shawn Boskie (4-2) Tuesday night at 7:30; Bob Ojeda (1-2) vs. Danny Jackson (0-5) Wednesday night at 7:30.
