3 New Leases Signed at Mall

Three new leases have been signed at Ventura County’s largest retail mall, The Oaks in Thousand Oaks. The Express, a division of The Limited, will expand into the adjoining 5,000-square-foot space that will be vacated May 31 by a Silverwoods men’s clothing store. The move will more than double the space now occupied by The Express, a women’s clothing retailer, said Barbara Teuscher, The Oaks’ general manager.

A new tenant, an Ann Taylor women’s wear store, is scheduled to open in the fall, Teuscher said. Another new store, Charlotte Russe, which sells young women’s clothing, will open next fall or in spring 1993, she said.

Teuscher said the current occupancy rate at The Oaks is “about 98%, which is very strong in today’s market.”

She added that business at the mall, which has 150 shops and five department stores, has shown recent signs of improvement.

“There was a definite surge coming up to Mother’s Day. Our traffic counts definitely have been up.”
