Jimmy Connors drew Wimbledon champion Michael Stich as his first-round opponent at the French Open, which will begin Monday. Stich is seeded fourth in the tournament.
Defending champion Jim Courier drew a qualifier yet to be determined as his first-round opponent, but probably will face Thomas Muster of Austria during the second round.
The top-seeded player among the women, two-time champion Monica Seles, drew Catherine Mothes of France in the opening round. Steffi Graf, also a two-time winner, will play Rene Simpson-Alter of Canada.
