A Jazz First: The 1992 Playboy Jazz Festival, which will feature Bill Cosby as master of ceremonies and include the talents of B.B. King, Yellowjackets, Joe Williams, The Manhattan Transfer and the Count Basie Orchestra, will be made available free to all public radio stations under a plan announced Tuesday. The first-ever broadcast of the 14-year-old festival will be produced by Pasadena’s KPPC-FM. Stations will have the option of carrying the event live or on tape delay. The festival takes place June 13-14 at the Hollywood Bowl.
