Back in Business: The Fred Hoffman Gallery in Santa Monica has resumed operations with plans to open an exhibition, “Selections From the Fred Hoffman Gallery,” in mid-June. The high-profile showcase closed briefly in April after a dispute with advertising executive Jay Chiat, the gallery’s backer. The partnership is in the process of dissolution, but Hoffman declined to discuss proceedings. Chiat could not be reached for comment Tuesday. Hoffman said he will continue to show the work of leading artists but in light of the sagging economy he may scale back the exhibition space.
