Duarte : Fee to License Pets Doubles

The City Council unanimously adopted an ordinance doubling the fees for dog and cat licenses.

A license fee of $20 will be payable annually on July 1 for all dogs older than four months. The fee for spayed or neutered dogs will be $10.

The same fees will apply for licensing cats. The issuance of the city ID tag for felines, good for the life of the animal, is not mandatory and is offered as a means of identifying lost pets.

Fees for impounding stray cats or dogs also were raised for the first time in 14 years--from $12.50 to $15 for the first instance, from $17.50 to $30 for the second and from $22.50 to $45 for any subsequent impounds.
