Newport Beach Businessman Buys Irvine Boxing Show
The monthly boxing show at the Irvine Marriott got its second owner in five months Wednesday when Roy Englebrecht announced that he has sold the event. No dollar figure was released.
Ted Luckow, the president of Luckow Circuit Breakers in Santa Ana takes over the show immediately. His first show will be June 25. Jim Browning will be the promoter. Both are residents of Newport Beach.
Englebrecht said that running the show amid his other business ventures was taking too much time. Englebrecht also puts on a broadcasting camp and is part of a group that owns the San Bernardino Spirit, a Class A baseball team. He had taken over the show from Don Fraser in January. Fraser had started the show and ran it from 1985 through 1991 before retiring.
Englebrecht will remain as a consultant to Luckow and Browning through October.
