Lawsuit Man: Best-selling horror author Stephen King contends that film distributor New Line Cinema and producer Allied Vision Ltd. invoked his name to sell a movie that wasn’t based on his work. King is suing the makers of the movie “Stephen King’s Lawnmower Man” in federal court in New York City, demanding that they stop using his name to promote the film and hand over any profits they earned as a result of “misleading” the public. But the filmmakers say they bought the right to use King’s name when they purchased the licensing rights to his short story “The Lawnmower Man.” The movie has grossed more than $30 million to date. King says the film bears “no resemblance” to his story.
