Nostalgic Note: Joan Diener, who originated the role of Aldonza in “Man of La Mancha” on Broadway 27 years ago, will join the cast of the current New York revival in the same role for Tuesday night and Wednesday matinee performances beginning tonight. Diener hit the big time with her sexy portrayal of Lalume in “Kismet” in 1958. After starring with Yul Brynner in a one-night flop, “Home Sweet Homer,” in 1976, Diener disappeared from the Broadway scene but has since sung in opera in this country and abroad and in numerous productions and tours of “Man of La Mancha.”
