A motorist was killed and his two passengers were injured when their car flipped over on Pearblossom Highway east of Palmdale, the California Highway Patrol said.

The dead man, whose name was not released pending notification of relatives, was driving west on the highway, east of Antelope Highway, when his car swerved off the road about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, Officer Miguel Siordia said.

When the driver, a 39-year-old Las Vegas man, attempted to steer back onto the pavement, he over-corrected and the car flipped over, Siordia said. The driver died at the scene.
