SAN DIEGO : When Melons Hit Asphalt, Goo Ensues
Motorists found sticky going along California 79 in northern San Diego County, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Cause of the tacky roadway--and all those ants and flies--was an overturned big-rig truck Friday night that was carrying 75,000 watermelons.
The cause of the accident, north of Sunshine Summit on the east side of Palomar Mountain, was under investigation, a CHP spokeswoman said.
The driver sustained minor injuries.
The melons did worse.
