A 21-year-old woman is being held on suspicion of arson for allegedly setting fire to the apartment she shared with her boyfriend, officials said.

The blaze began about 1:30 a.m. Sunday when some men’s clothing was set on fire in a plexiglass bathtub in a 16-unit apartment building, Orange County Fire Department Capt. Dan Young said.

The couple’s apartment in the complex at 15513 Williams St. was gutted, Young said, and there was also smoke and fire damage to the units on either side of J-16, as well flooding in the unit below. Damage was estimated at $100,000.

No one was hurt.

Neighbors told fire investigators they saw Jennifer Tillman, who lived in apartment J-16 with Agee Green, 22, enter the apartment about five minutes before the fire started, Young said.

“It sounds like she took off real fast and then the fire started very quickly,” Young said.

Green was on his way to a nearby restaurant and did not return until after firefighters arrived, Young added.

Witnesses told fire investigators that Green and Tillman had been fighting for several days. Tillman is being held at County Jail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Municipal Court on Tuesday morning, Tustin Police Sgt. Christine George said.
