BASEBALL / DAILY REPORT : ANGELS : Polonia Finally Stealing Bases Again

Aggressive baserunning that helped the Angels to their early season success has returned, most notably from Luis Polonia.

Polonia, who stole 48 bases last year, had only eight as recently as June 6. Now he has 19, and he has stolen 11 in the past eight games without being caught. Sunday was the first time in five games he has not stolen a base.

Against Chicago on Wednesday, Polonia tied Devon White’s team record with four steals in a game.

Reliever Bryan Harvey played catch before Sunday’s game in his first throwing activity since going on the disabled list June 7 because of a sore right elbow. Harvey plans to pitch off the mound Tuesday and Wednesday, try throwing the forkball Friday and Saturday and be prepared to pitch June 22, when he is eligible to return from the disabled list.
