LOS ANGELES COUNTY : $2.50 Base Fare OKd for Metrolink Service
Seeking to balance ridership with revenue, the Southern California Regional Rail Authority has approved a one-way base fare of $2.50 for passengers on the Metrolink commuter train service scheduled to start Oct. 26.
An additional dollar will be charged each time a passenger rides between designated zones, which average about 10 miles in length. Monthly pass prices were set at 32 times the one-way daily fare. Senior citizens, handicapped people and students will be charged half fares.
From Santa Clarita to downtown Los Angeles, a one-way fare will be $5.50, a round-trip fare will be $10 and a monthly pass will cost $144. From Moorpark in Ventura County, the fares will be $6.50 one-way, $12 round trip and $176 a month. On the third line, from Pomona, the fares will be $4.50, $8 and $112.
