Rest in Peace: A hearing will take place today in U.S. District Court in Alexandria, Va., to determine whether the remains of Polish pianist and statesman Ignace Jan Padrewski should be transferred to Poland on June 29. Paderewski’s remains have been at Arlington National Cemetery since his death in 1941. The pianist wanted his remains returned only to a “free” Poland. Mark Seidenberg, a member of the nonpartisan watchdog group State Department Watch, is seeking a temporary restraining order to prevent the body’s shipment, as agreed to between the United States and Poland.
