MARINA DEL REY : Woman Found Shot Dead in Car That Crashed

Share

A woman in her early 20s was found shot to death in the driver’s seat of her crashed convertible early Thursday morning near Marina del Rey after residents of the upscale neighborhood reported hearing shots fired and cars collide.

The victim, whose identity was withheld until relatives are notified, was shot once in the upper body, said Lt. Ross Moen of the Los Angeles Police Department. Moen said police have no suspects.

Moen said detectives are trying to find out where the woman had been before the shooting, which occurred on Via Dolce, just south of Washington Street, shortly before 1 a.m. She was found alone in the car, a 1992 Chevrolet Corvette convertible with its top down.

The woman’s car had crashed into the rear of a parked station wagon, Moen said. He said it was not determined whether the shooting occurred before or after the smash-up.
