Authorities Seek Help in Finding Suspects in Assaults Against Children

A man in a white Toyota pickup truck is being sought in separate kidnapings of two young girls in the San Gabriel Valley, including one in which the child was raped.

The man grabbed a 4-year-old San Gabriel girl at 7:30 p.m. May 27 from the 200 block of South Del Mar Avenue after motioning her toward his truck. He drove two blocks, raped her and then released the child, who ran home, said San Gabriel Police Detective Darren Perrine.

The second kidnaping occurred Wednesday, when a man matching the description of the first suspect offered a ride home to a 5-year-old near Primrose and Lemon avenues in Monrovia. The child escaped unharmed by jumping out of the truck and running into a restaurant when the pickup stopped at a traffic light in the 500 block of Huntington Drive, Monrovia police said.

Both police agencies gave composite sketches of the man they described as white, 25 to 30 years old, of medium build, 5 feet, 8 inches tall and clean-shaven with slicked-back hair, possibly in a ponytail. His truck is a 1986 to 1988 Toyota.
