HOT SPOT: One of the hottest bands rising from the Los Angeles underground is Rage Against the Machine, whose explosive performances have been reminding people of the early punk urgency of Bad Brains fused with the “bomb squad” siren sound of Public Enemy. No less than Perry Farrell has tabbed the quartet to play on a side stage at the “Lollapalooza” shows at Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre on Sept. 11 and 12 as well as to open for his new group, Porno for Pyros, when it makes its official concert debut July 11 at Castaic Lake. Rage has just signed to Epic and is currently working on its debut album, due out in late August.
