SAN DIEGO : 2 Women Shot Dead In Unrelated Cases

Two women died Saturday in unrelated early-morning shooting incidents that took place within three hours of one another in San Diego, police said.

The first victim was shot to death in the 4300 block of Altadena Street in east San Diego shortly before 4:09 a.m., police said. After being shot, she staggered to the door of a house and asked for help, then collapsed on the front porch.

The woman, who police describe as a suspected prostitute between 25-30 years old, died at the scene. Neighbors said they heard a commotion and a car speeding away, police said.

In the second incident, police discovered the body of a woman in the parking lot of the Memorial Recreation Center in Logan Heights at 6:42 a.m. Police described the woman as black and around 30 years old. They said she had been shot at least once in the lower body.

Investigators do not believe the shootings were related.
