Bell Gardens : Council Ends Study Periods and Agrees to Meet Earlier

Share

The City Council has voted to start council meetings half an hour earlier, at 7 p.m., after discontinuing council study sessions.

The council’s half-hour study sessions before meetings were open to the public, but some residents complained that the council was discussing information that should be shared in the meetings, Councilman George Deitch said.

“We felt it would be better to hold everything from the podium,” he said Monday.

The council has been meeting at an auditorium in Bell Gardens Park since February while renovations and repairs are made to the council chambers and City Hall lobby.

Council meetings will continue to be held every second and fourth Monday at Ross Hall in the park, 6662 Loveland Ave., through the end of the year, Deitch said.
