OXNARD : Fire Causes $75,000 Damage to 2 Powerboats at Marina
Two powerboats docked alongside each other at a marina in the Channel Islands Harbor sustained a total of about $75,000 in damage after a fire spread from one boat to the other, authorities said Thursday.
No one was aboard the 27-foot and 26-foot boats and there were no injuries, a spokeswoman for the Ventura County Fire Department said.
The fire was called in at 10:06 p.m. Wednesday and contained by 10:30 p.m., she said.
The blaze was fanned by brisk winds, and smoke from the fire was visible from several hundred yards away.
Both boats received major damage, officials said. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
