District Awards Senior $3,500 Scholarship

Jesse Velez, a graduating senior at El Monte High School, has won the $3,500 Robert Began Scholarship awarded by the Mountain View School District.

Velez, who also is a graduate of Mountain View Elementary School, was given the award as an outstanding senior who exemplified ability, leadership and character.

A computer and electronics student who wants to become a mathematics teacher, Velez will attend the College of the Redwoods in Eureka.
