Youth Killed in Suspected Gang Shooting
A 16-year-old boy died Saturday after being wounded in a suspected gang-related shooting in the Walnut Park area, sheriff’s deputies said.
The boy, whose name was withheld, died about 7:15 a.m. at Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center after he was shot inside a car at 10 p.m. Friday at Compton Avenue and 83rd Street, said Sgt. Ron Spear of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Spear said a gunman in a southbound car shot the youth, identified only as a Latino boy, while he was driving in the opposite direction on Compton Avenue.
