Rap Star’s Home Damaged in Fire
A Calabasas home belonging to Andre R. Young, better known as rapper Dr. Dre of the group N.W.A, was damaged Sunday by a blaze that left two firefighters injured, authorities said.
The two-story home in the 5300 block of Newcastle Lane caught fire about 6 p.m. after sparks from smoldering coals--possibly from a barbecue--traveled up a vent pipe into the attic, Los Angeles County fire officials said. Firefighters battled the blaze for nearly an hour before extinguishing it. Two firefighters suffered heat exhaustion and were treated at the scene.
Fire officials estimated damage to the 4,000-square-foot residence at $125,000.
