Two men were charged with kidnaping the son of an East Los Angeles auto parts dealer at gunpoint and holding him for $100,000 ransom, authorities said Thursday.

Los Angeles Police Officer Francine Spada said a SWAT team burst into a motel room in Commerce late Wednesday and freed Jesus Zamorano after he had been bound, gagged and doused with gasoline.

Spada said Zamorano was abducted on a Boyle Heights street about noon Wednesday. His captors had threatened to set him afire unless family members agreed to their demands, she said.

Police placed the motel under surveillance after tracing a phone call placed by one of the suspects to the victim’s father, she said. Officers arrested Urbano Gonzalez, 20, after he left the motel. The other suspect, Garcia A. Luna, 31, was arrested in the motel room. He was in possession of three loaded handguns, Spada said.
