‘Lettice & Lovage’ Los Angeles Engagement Postponed
The national tour of “Lettice & Lovage” has shifted its Aug. 18-Sept. 12 performances in Los Angeles to an undetermined slot next fall. It is still slated to play San Diego (July 14-19), San Francisco (July 21-Aug. 16) and Seattle (Aug. 18-23.)
But at that point it will be suspended indefinitely.
The tour, which is in Chicago, and has played New Haven, Toronto, Boston, Washington and Tampa, “hasn’t been doing well” at the box office, said Bernard Jacobs, president of the Shubert Organization, one of the tour’s producers. But “we promised (playwright) Peter Shaffer we’d play L.A.,” so new dates are expected to be announced for the Shubert Theatre engagement in Century City, if not the other remaining cities on the tour.
The production stars Julie Harris and Roberta Maxwell.
