Quarterback Bobby Hebert of the New Orleans Saints testified in Minneapolis that his 1990 contract negotiations with team President Jim Finks became so heated that the player had to break up a shouting match between his wife and the team executive.

Hebert, who sat out the 1990 season when he didn’t sign a contract, said Finks tried to intimidate him and his wife, Teresa.

“I tried to get in between them,” Hebert said as spectators in the courtroom laughed.

Hebert testified on behalf of the players in an antitrust lawsuit against the NFL.

The trial was recessed for two weeks.
