Share

Two youths who entered the home of a Cypress family and robbed them at gunpoint were arrested by police after a brief chase, Cypress police said.

Three robbers had followed Fu Hsiung Houng and Yang Shu Kua Houng home Thursday about 8:30 p.m., Cypress Police Sgt. John Avila said. The robbers forced their way into the Houng’s home and while holding guns on the family, took cash and a videocassette recorder, Avila said. The robbers then left in the victims’ silver van.

After the family notified police, officers spotted the van and followed it until two of the suspects fled from the van, Avila said.

One suspect who remained inside the van was arrested, a second was later arrested with the help of Buena Park police officers and a police helicopter.

Ages of the juveniles in custody were not immediately known. Avila said they live in Los Angeles County. Both were taken to Juvenile Hall in Orange.

The robbery was the second so-called “home invasion” in Cypress in eight months.
